2-Time World Series Champ Johnny Damon Sells FL Home for .7M

A former big leaguer who achieved legendary status with two of baseball’s most prestigious franchises has sold his home of 13 years.

Johnny Damon, who won the World Series championships with the Boston Red Sox and New York Yankees, sold his waterfront mansion in Windermere, FL, for $1.7 million. It was originally listed for $2.35 million in March 2015.

The 5,066-square-foot home has four bedrooms and 3.5 bathrooms. Sitting on Lake Butler, the estate features a boathouse, bowling alley, entertainment theater, tennis court, eight-car garage, and pool with swim-up bar and neon-lit hot tub.

Property records show that the former outfielder paid $1.15 million for the home in 2003—right before he signed a $30 million contract with the Boston Red Sox.

The home features a kitchen with a center island, living and dining areas with broad glass doors, and a home theater. The master suite has a bathroom with a large soaking tub, his-and-her vanities, and a wine cooler.

Damon is best known for his contributions in helping to break Boston’s “Curse of the Bambino”—an 86-year World Series championship drought for the Red Sox that ended in 2004. He hit two huge home runs during the postseason.

Damon left the Red Sox, much to the chagrin of Boston fans, in 2006 and signed with the New York Yankees in a deal worth $52 million.

He made good on his Yankees deal during his final season in pinstripes when he helped lead the team to the 2009 World Series championship. He finished up his 18-year career in 2012 and wound up with 2,769 hits.
