Even though they split long ago, Canadian musicians Avril Lavigne and Nickelback frontman Chad Kroeger are still trying to sell their rockin’ Sherman Oaks home.

Lavigne, who hit the scene as a teenager, is now the third best-selling Canadian musician of all time. The 34-year-old has sold over 40 million albums and over 50 million singles worldwide. In 2013, she married the oft-ridiculed Kroeger. The couple bought this prime slice of SoCal property for $5.995 million two years later.

Now separated, they’ve struggled to sell the home. Even though the place has been discounted since first being offered on the market last year, it’s still the most expensive offering in all of Sherman Oaks. What can we say? It’s “complicated.”

Here are six things you need to know about their French-inspired chateau.

1. From dream home to splitsville

The two singers purchased the home, which was built in 1989, back in June 2015. Just a few months later, the couple announced their split.

But the home didn’t make its way back onto the market until 2018. The once-optimistic price of $7.9 million was chopped to $7.5 million at the beginning of this year. Since then, it’s been cut again to the current ask of $6.9 million. Perhaps three times is the charm.

2. Grand entry included

The “magnificent mansion” with over 10,000 square feet of living space opens to a dramatic, double staircase. Because when you’re a rock star, you need a major entrance. The curved stairs lead to a living room with floor-to-ceiling windows, candelabra, and a fireplace.
