‘Mommie Dearest’ Mansion Is Runner-Up in the Week’s Most Expensive New Listings

This week’s most expensive new listings on realtor.com® are dominated by Southern California. The top three properties to hit the market are all within a 5-mile radius in Los Angeles.

Atop our list is a $40 million Mediterranean-style mansion belonging to the founder of clothing store (and shopping mall staple) Bebe. Apropos for a fashion impresario’s mansion, you can also try on the home for $150,000 on a month-to-month basis.

To our mind, the true star is this week’s runner-up: a cool Colonial in Holmby Hills. This home was used as the filming location for 1981’s “Mommie Dearest,” and the echoes of Faye Dunaway‘s fabulously over-the-top portrayal of Joan Crawford hangs over the home’s rose garden and pool. Even if you’re not a fan of the trashy cinematic classic, you might appreciate the home’s location. It’s right across the street from the recently sold Playboy mansion.

Aside from the top two, buyers will have to open their wallets wide for a renovated Beverly Hills home with a stunning backyard, a Miami mansion with oodles of contemporary flair, and an Aspen home bisected with a glass pyramid. Seriously.

We’d never ask you to build a pyramid, but we would like you to scroll down and read about the week’s priciest new listings.

1. 200 Delfern Dr., Los Angeles, CA

Price: $39,995,000 ($1,925 per square foot)
Luxe factor: The house that Bebe built. Belonging to Bebe founder Manny Mashouf, this Mediterranean estate in Holmby Hills quietly made its way onto the market in September 2015 for $45 million. Now back with a $5 million price reduction, the fashionable spread can be yours if you snag it off the sale rack. If you’d rather try the mansion on for size, it’s available for rent for $150,000 a month.

2. (tie) 355 S Mapleton Dr, Los Angeles, CA

Price: $35,000,000 ($5,780 per square foot)
Luxe factor: “Mommie Dearest” was filmed here. What else do you need? Re-enact the swimming scene in the pool, which appears unchanged from its big-screen debut. Or prune the roses in the lush garden, make a dramatic entrance on the grand staircase, and whip up a rare steak in the kitchen. Whatever you do—don’t use wire hangers in any closet. Ever.

2. (tie) 9719 Heather Rd, Beverly Hills, CA

Price: $35,000,000 ($3,500 per square foot)
Luxe factor: Purchased for $12.5 million in January 2015, this mansion is back on the market for nearly triple the price just a year and a half later. The estate’s revamped backyard offers covered patios, a tennis court, a pool (of course!), and a miniature vineyard.

4. 271 N Hibiscus Dr, Miami Beach, FL

Price: $21,000,000 ($2,328 per square foot)
Luxe factor: Located in the middle of Biscayne Bay, this luxury manse is all about contemporary style. Curves abound and modern flourishes include a see-through wine storage area beneath the stairs, an oculus in the middle of the home, and an elevator that evokes a Space Age chute.

5. 350 Eagle Park Dr, Aspen, CO

Price: $19,500,000 ($1,381 per square foot)
Luxe factor: We’ve seen quite a few notable Aspen properties, but this home stands alone. The mountain mansion has a glass pyramid that “bisects a 245-ft long interior street.” Yeah, it sounds wild—and it is. When you’re done staring at the world from your pyramid, you can step outdoors, meander along a labyrinthine trail, and check out the treehouse out back.
