While you shouldn’t confuse us with experts in American history, we definitely have an appreciation for historic homes. Loving a modern mansion is easy, but a true historic home buff finds it just as easy to love homes born in the 18th or 19th century.

To honor America’s birthday, we turned the clock back to examine historic houses in cities synonymous with the American Revolution. Some of the homes we spotted charge a bit of a premium for their pedigree, but it was our patriotic duty to also uncover a few affordable options.

Sound the bugle! We’re ready to march through a few beautiful homes in historic American cities and towns.

Boston, MA

7 Acorn St

Price: $2,395,000
Patriotic points: In the hometown of the original Tea Party, this classic brick townhouse was constructed about 50 years after the Sons of Liberty dumped 342 chests of tea into Boston Harbor. While we can’t vouch for this three-bedroom dwelling’s tea-worthiness, we are in love with its location on an authentic cobblestone street.

Lexington, MA

2030 Massachusetts Ave

Price: $1,395,000
Patriotic points: The first shots of the Revolution were fired at those pesky redcoats in Lexington. About 30 years later, this Colonial-style structure was built just down the road from the action. The five-bedroom home has been renovated, but it retains plenty of vintage charm. Become a local, and you can join in the annual re-enactments.

Concord, MA

98 Monument St

Price: $3,225,000
Patriotic points: For a Revolutionary War buff, this Concord home offers location, location, location. Built in the 1820s, it is just “steps to the North Bridge, Minuteman Park, and Great Meadows Preserve.” Known as the Francis Gourgas House, the 14-room main residence includes a library and seven fireplaces.

Ticonderoga, NY

132 Lake George Ave

Price: $135,000
Patriotic points: Ethan Allen and the Green Mountain Boys of Vermont scored the first victory of the war when they captured Fort Ticonderoga from the British in 1775. Today, an American flag flies proudly in front of this affordable three-bedroom home from the early 20th century. Located only a couple of miles away from the massive fort, the home is the perfect summer getaway close to Lake George.

Sullivan’s Island, SC

2608 Ion Ave

Price: $2,175,000
Patriotic points: The British fleet docked near Sullivan’s Island in 1776 in its bid to gain ground in South Carolina, but was badly beaten by artillery from the island’s Fort Moultrie. Although this cottage just down the street from the fort was built in 1892, its interiors are pure 2016. We’d love to celebrate America’s birthday in the fabulous pool.

Philadelphia, PA

8400 Saint Martins Ln

Price: $2,495,000
Patriotic points: Although the Declaration of Independence was signed in this city, the architecture can’t evade a little British influence. Built in 1834, this Georgian Colonial features “original details complemented by a whole host of modern updates.”

Trenton, NJ

31 Richey Pl

Price: $274,999
Patriotic points: This affordable beauty is practically across the street from the Delaware River. You know, the one that was famously crossed by our first president and commemorated by that famous painting. Yeah, that one. Located in the city’s historic district, the handsome home proudly displays the red, white, and blue out front.

King of Prussia, PA

300 Anderson Rd

Price: $279,900
Patriotic points: Just about four miles away from Valley Forge National Historic Park, this farmhouse actually predates the Revolutionary War. Built in 1725, the home’s post-and-beam construction is still readily apparent in the kitchen and dining area.

Yorktown, VA

812 Ship Point Rd

Price: $1,499,900
Patriotic points: Yorktown is where the British troops finally waved the white flag in 1781. We couldn’t find any historic homes for sale in the city, so we surrendered and settled for the next best thing: a waterfront place on the Poquoson River. Giving up never felt so good.
