This Week’s Most Expensive New Listing Is a Spectacular Beverly Hills Estate
When you’re paying nearly $30 million for a home, it must be spectacular. This week’s most expensive new listing on realtor.com® puts an emphatic check mark in the “spectacular” box.
Location? On top of Mulholland Drive, one of the most famous streets in the world. Parking for friends? Yep, a motor court with room for over 30 cars. A decadent pool feature? Of course, there’s a grotto to splash around in.
Those are just some of the highlights in the 10-bedroom mansion that planted its flag atop our list. Following closely behind it is a new oceanfront mansion in the O.C., an NFL coach’s immense compound in Colorado, an awesome ranch in Ventura County, and a cool NYC penthouse looking for a buyer after three years of bouncing on and off the market.
Read on for a full look at this week’s priciest new listings…
1. Mulholland Dr, Beverly Hills, CA
Price: $29,950,000 ($1,737 per square foot)
Luxe factor: Built in 1992, this custom-designed home on 4 acres has never been on the market. It’s an entertainer’s delight featuring an “outdoor dining terrace specifically designed for concerts, fundraisers, or holiday parties.” The 10-bedroom home stretches over 17,000 square feet, and a river runs through it. Well, not exactly a river—but a stream “flows throughout the estate.” We still like thinking of it as a river.

2. 9 Strand Beach Dr, Dana Point, CA
Price: $25,995,000 ($2,529 per square foot)
Luxe factor: Nestled in a gated community above the beach, this new home takes its cues from the Mediterranean. But the five-bedroom villa is way more California opulence than rustic Old World. It features a home theater, spa, and chef’s kitchen, but we’re most enamored with the exercise room with windows overlooking the ocean.

3. 8 Cherry Hills Park Dr, Englewood, CO
Price: $22,000,000 ($682 per square foot)
Luxe factor: Need proof the NFL is big business? Look no further than the mansion of former Broncos head coach Mike Shanahan. After attaining the unofficial title of “coach for life” in Denver thanks to a couple of Super Bowl wins, he was deposed in 2009. Back when he assumed he’d never leave the Mile High City, the coach commissioned this massive mansion measuring over 30,000 square feet. It features a bowling alley, racquetball court, poker room, and golf simulator—making it the perfect mansion for a buyer with a competitive streak. Bonus: Peyton Manning slept here!

4. (tie) 2317 Dickenson Rd, Santa Paula, CA
Price: $20,000,000 ($5,882 per square foot)
Luxe factor: It’s not about the house. The Flying D Ranch comes with nearly 1,300 acres of land in Ventura County, which opens up a variety of possibilities. A dude ranch? Perhaps. A housing development? Sure, turn it into tracts. Or you could opt for our favorite option: Simply keep the 140-acre avocado farm and retire on all the “guac is extra” money.
———
4. (tie) 71 Laight St Ph C, New York, NY
Price: $20,000,000 ($4,011 per square foot)
Luxe factor: It’s back! This luxury penthouse unit in Tribeca’s Sterling Mason building initially went on the market in 2013. Three years later, the spacious four-bedroom with a killer rooftop deck is still looking for a buyer. And despite having 5,000 square feet spread over two levels of living space plus an additional 1,000 square feet outside, it’s not even among the 10 priciest listings in the 10013 ZIP code.
