Actress Lake Bell Selling Customized Brooklyn Townhouse for M
A bit of the secret life of Lake Bell is being revealed in the Brooklyn townhouse she recently listed for $3 million. The actress, who voices persnickety cat Chloe in the animated blockbuster “The Secret Life of Pets,” hopes to nearly double the $1.55 million she paid for the place in 2013.
She shouldn’t have much of a problem getting her desired price, as the property is located in the trendy Clinton Hill neighborhood of Brooklyn, which is close to the shops and restaurants of Myrtle Avenue and Fort Greene Park. It’s also a short subway ride from Manhattan.
Bell and her husband, celebrity tattoo artist Scott Campbell, did quite a bit of work on the “Greek and Gothic Revival”–style townhouse, which was built in the 1850s.
It’s zoned for duplex use, but it’s currently configured as a five-bedroom, 3.5-bathroom, single-family home. Spacious by New York standards, it has four levels, three fireplaces, a refinished basement, and a walk-in closet in the master bedroom, which is almost unheard of in this area.
Out front there’s the traditional Brooklyn stoop, and out back is a quaint garden with stone pavers and mature trees.
But there’s no sound booth, which might come as a surprise to those aware of “In a World…” Bell wrote, directed, produced, and starred in the well-received comedy about the competitive world of the voice-over profession.
Of course, the former model does her fair share of on-camera work, having recently wrapped the seventh and final season of “Childrens Hospital,” Adult Swim’s dark comedy. Moving on to new projects is a likely reason for her desire to part with the townhouse she’s owned and worked on for the past three years.
