If you’re going to purchase a celebrity home, the home of “Saturday Night Live” alum Kevin Nealon and his wife, actress Susan Yeagley, is a savvy choice for buyers who desire a lightly lived-in house.
Because Nealon and Yeagley are often on location and they have only one son and no pets, their pristine home in Pacific Palisades, CA, appears brand-new, according to listing agent Elizabeth Stein of Sotheby’s International Realty. The home was brand-new when they purchased it six years ago for $3.45 million.
Of course the $5.3 million listing price for the seven-bedroom, six-bathroom home is a steep increase from six years ago. However, Stein notes, “The nearest seven-bedroom home in the Palisades is listed at $8.9 million.”
The price and the fact that “people who come to see it can’t believe anyone has ever lived here,” according to Stein, have combined to create a compelling listing.
Just about the only sign that Nealon and his family have been in residence is the New York City skyline painted on the walls of a bathroom, complete with an image of 30 Rockefeller Plaza, where “Saturday Night Live” is shot. Other than that, the traditional-style home with Georgian accents and clean lines has a timeless style that can be adapted to any taste.
Other features include high ceilings, solid oak floors with walnut stain, and double or triple crown molding in some rooms. The chef’s kitchen has a 12-foot center island with an 8-foot peninsula, a butler’s pantry, a Sub-Zero refrigerator, a Wolf range, a Bosch warming drawer, and a Fisher & Paykel dishwasher.
So why are Nealon and his family leaving this gem? “When they bought it in 2009, they said, ‘See you in five to seven years,’ when it’s time to try something new,” says Stein. “They’re lovely people, and they just decided the timing is right.”
It’s also time for Nealon to perform standup gigs, which he says he’ll be doing through the end of the year and into 2017. In addition, he and Yeagley are working on a film they wrote together. Called “Then I’ll Be Happy,” it’s an offbeat romantic comedy, which Nealon plans to direct. Meanwhile, you’ll soon see Yeagley on the Netflix comedy “Mascots,” from Christopher Guest.
