What’s better than a deep playoff run for the Boston Red Sox in 2017? If you’re a card-carrying member of Red Sox Nation, snapping up the family home of retired catcher Carlton Fisk might be quite a sweet catch. The home recently went on the market for $175,000—and includes a 1-acre lot with fruit trees and grape vines.

Built in 1865, the 1,884-square-foot home, which is still in the Fisk family, features three bedrooms and 1.5 baths. The 69-year-old Fisk grew up in this Cape Cod–style home in Charlestown, NH, living there from 1947 to 1967.

June Fisk, one of Carlton’s two sisters, recalls the neighborhood with fondness, noting that the kids played a lot of baseball outside before moving the games inside after more than a few balls broke neighbors’ windows.

Maintaining elements of its vintage charm, the house still has an original fireplace and staircase. It’s within walking distance of the village of Charlestown and just across the border from Vermont.

After two years at the University of New Hampshire, Carlton signed with the Boston Red Sox in 1967, says listing agent Justin Ranney of Coldwell Banker Homes Unlimited, in Claremont, NH.

After starring for the Red Sox for a decade, the All-Star catcher moved on to play for the Chicago White Sox until retiring at the age of 45 in 1993. He slugged 376 home runs over the course of his 24-year MLB career and was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 2000.
