Based on the Gold Coast, Hannah Sbeghen is a journalist reporting on all angles of the property market. Surrounded by multi-million dollar mansions, celebrity holiday homes and beach shacks she is yet to have a dull day in real estate. Hannah believes the Gold Coast is a gold mine for hot property and plans to nab a unit with ocean views.
IT is described as trendy cosmopolitan living with a Manhattan inspired design, and it’s really not hard to see why.
The two-level penthouse at the Mantra Chevron Renaissance Towers is one of many properties owner and boss of holiday-stay business Regal Retreats, Andrew MacDonald, bought for his portfolio.
“This was my first penthouse and I was attracted to the position and obviously the magnificent beach and Ocean Views,” he said.
Mr MacDonald said he was inspired to create a Manhattan design.
“We did extensive renovations and completed an interior design that was based on a black and white Chanel theme,” he said.
“That renovation and fitout was masterplanned by Virginia Oxenford of Globe Interiors at Southport. Virginia has curated all my properties in Australia and has a fantastic eye for detail and quality.
“The work she did on the penthouse was incredible given how different it was to my beach house at Kingscliff.
“I had lived in Manhattan for a period of time when I worked for Macquarie Bank and she really captured what I was after.
“I also like the fact that my family and I could use this from time to time during our holidays and that when not in use by us it would make a superb high-end short term rental that could attract premium rates.
“My favourite room is a tough question, as all the rooms have very special views, but having said that there is nothing quite like sitting on the top deck with your own private pool looking out over the Pacific Ocean.
“That just takes your breath away during the day or on a moonlit evening.”
The penthouse has room for a dining table seating up to eight people. There is a music and media system throughout.
