Actress Dania Ramirez and Husband Bev Land Look to Fly From Their Love Nest
If you could put a monetary value on good vibes and positive energy, “Devious Maids” actress Dania Ramirez and her writer/director husband, John Beverly “Bev” Land, would be asking a lot more than $1.8 million for their ivy-covered, four-bedroom home located in West Hollywood, CA.
“We fell in love here,” says Ramirez. “We had our children here. We achieved so much here. It’s going to be very difficult to leave it, but with the twins getting older, it’s time.”
Land bought the 1,561-square-foot home just as he was about to graduate from UCLA, in 2001. It was where he raised his son Kai. Land was initially attracted to the home’s old Hollywood vibes—Clark Gable had purchased the house, built in 1935, for his daughter. He was also enamored with the location, within strolling distance of the exclusive Soho House, as well as the trendy shops and restaurants in Sunset Plaza.
Then along came Ramirez. The couple fell in love and were married in 2013. They soon had twins: a boy and a girl. Now that the twins are almost 4, the home is beginning to feel tight. Stars are just like us!
And although the house has a sweet courtyard with mature landscaping, a fountain, and plenty of seating, Ramirez says their growing family needs a yard and perhaps a pool for the kids.
Land and Ramirez have maintained the home well, while keeping much of its original Spanish-style charm.
For example, in the living room, they did not alter the peg-and-groove wood flooring, built-in niche shelving, barrel ceiling, or fireplace. However, they did make some additions: gates for privacy, and an office that could be used as a bedroom. Because they love the neighborhood so much, they considered adding a second story, but decided against it.
“We’re taking our time with finding a new home,” says Ramirez. “It’s going to be so hard to leave this perfect place!”
“Devious Maids” ran four seasons on the Lifetime network, and now Ramirez is writing a book and working with Land on the August release of “Lycan,” a horror film written and produced by Land and starring Ramirez. Land has also worked on “What Are the Odds?” and “Social Misfits.”
Ramirez, who was born in the Dominican Republic, had recurring roles in “Buffy the Vampire Slayer,” “The Sopranos,” “Heroes,” and “Entourage.”
Elizabeth Keener of Sotheby’s Homes and Rhonda Scott of Douglas Elliman are the listing agents.
