Does This $20M Texas Home Boast the Country’s Longest Driveway?

Everything’s bigger in Texas—even the driveways. It’s certainly the case for a $19.85 million mansion for sale outside Fort Worth, which boasts one of the longest paved driveways we’ve ever seen.

Built in 1987, Bear Creek Plantation wows visitors the moment the property’s double gates swing open, revealing a perfectly straight, 0.3-mile-long, tree-lined driveway. On foot, it takes about 6 minutes to walk the length of the driveway, past grassy pastures ideal for keeping horses.

And while Texans might rightfully say there are longer driveways in the Lone Star State, those driveways are usually dirt-paved, and on ranches far outside of town. What’s remarkable about this 43.5-acre property is that it’s smack dab in the middle of an upscale suburban neighborhood in Colleyville—offering a coveted mix of city and country living.

(As an example of the area’s suburban roots, consider this 4,500-square-foot mansion for sale right across the street—it sits on a half-acre lot and has an asking price of $700,000.)

The property’s 9,384-square-foot, Southern plantation–style mansion has five bedrooms and 5.5 baths. Wide, brick steps lead past 10 two-story columns, to the grand, double-doored entrance. Inside, the foyer has a circular staircase leading to a circular, second-story balcony.

Just off the foyer is a wood-paneled office with a coffered ceiling and built-in bookcases. The living room features a fireplace and built-in cabinets and connects to the entertainment room, which has a wet bar. The owners put up their deer trophies here, which fit perfectly with the room’s wood-paneled interior.

The formal dining room flows into the galley-style kitchen, which has a center island, stainless-steel appliances, and a double oven.

Upstairs, the master bedroom is expansive, with its own chandelier and stairs up to a private sitting area and fireplace. Elsewhere, there’s an elevator, pool, four barns, and a 2,648-square-foot guesthouse.

The home is owned by Burk and Joan Collins, who run a Texas-based commercial real estate development company. The Collins originally listed the home for $22.5 million last year, but chopped $2.65 million off the asking price earlier this summer. Now they just need a buyer willing to make a grand entrance up one of the longest driveways we’ve ever run across.
