Here’s a rarity: a celebrity who isn’t charging a dreaded “fame tax” to rent out his lovely beach house.

Ted McGinley, whom you’ve seen in everything from “Happy Days” and “The Love Boat” to “The West Wing” and “Mad Men,” is renting out his pristine three-bedroom, three-bath cottage on Balboa Island, CA, for a mere $4,800 per month, which is a real deal for this coveted Newport Beach community.

Balboa really is an island, albeit teeny-tiny. It’s located right off the coast of Newport Beach and connected to the mainland by a bridge and a ferry. The 59-year-old actor was born in Newport Beach, surfed there, even worked as a lifeguard there, so he’s well aware of the property’s charm … and value.

A two-bedroom home with a waterfront view in the island community can sell for as much as $3 million, so it’s easy to see how $4,800 per month for a 1,884-square foot, two-story home with three bedrooms and two baths is reasonable.

Built to look like a Cape Cod cottage, it shares one wall with its neighbor, and is bordered by a white picket fence. It has a bay window, a Dutch door, a spacious living room with a fireplace, a separate dining room, and a renovated kitchen with all-new stainless steel appliances.

Not that you’d have to use the appliances, because the home is within strolling distance of a number of quaint shops and restaurants. It’s also a quick Uber ride to Fashion Island and John Wayne Airport, so it’s one of the few neighborhoods in Southern California where you don’t need to a car to survive.

All this, plus  the chance to pay rent to the guy who played Jefferson D’Arcy on “Married … With Children”? Admittedly, he’s too busy doing voice work on “Transformers: Robots in Disguise” and starring in the TV movie “Happily Never After” to collect the rent himself, but it’s the thought (and the savings!) that count, right?
