‘Heavenly Creature’ Melanie Lynskey Sells Her Celestial L.A. Bungalow
New Zealand–born actress Melanie Lynskey probably didn’t need her cozy Echo Park bungalow any more, now that she’s happily engaged to actor Jason Ritter.
So she listed her longtime home in the blazing-hot South of Sunset neighborhood for $899,000. In less than two weeks, she accepted an offer for $950,000, according to Variety.
Lynskey, star of the 1994 Oscar-nominated film “Heavenly Creatures” (directed by a pre-“Lord of the Rings” Peter Jackson and co-starring a teenage Kate Winslet), bought the quaint Victorian in 2004 for $597,500, and did a good bit of restoration work on it over the years.
Built in 1900, the adorable two-story, 1,472-square-foot home has four bedrooms and two baths. An inviting porch expands the living space in front, and a dining terrace shaded by a trellis extends it out back.
Two bedrooms and both bathrooms are on the main floor, while the other two bedrooms are upstairs.
Also on the main floor is an updated kitchen that still retains a retro design, a turquoise dining room, and a living room with a fireplace.
Those who missed “Heavenly Creatures” might know Lynskey from her stint on “Two and a Half Men,” playing Charlie Harper’s cute but crazy stalker. More recently, she starred on Mark and Jay Duplass‘ HBO series “Togetherness.”
Some of her better-known films are “Coyote Ugly,” “Sweet Home Alabama,” “Flags of Our Fathers,” “Up in the Air,” and “The Perks of Being a Wallflower.”
