Joanna Gaines’ New Baby Nursery: Here’s Just How Unbearably Cute It Could Be
Now that Chip and Joanna Gaines are expecting baby No. 5, “Fixer Upper” fans are in a tizzy wondering what this lucky kid’s nursery will look like.
Of course, with Joanna’s impeccable taste in decor, it’s safe to say this new Baby Gaines is going to have one dreamy bedroom.
“Any nursery I’ve ever done—to me, that was my favorite thing,” she’s gushed to the press. Joanna says nursery transformations have been the most emotional renovations of her career, because they are so tied to the kid’s personality. “I didn’t want to do your typical pink or blue. I wanted it to feel unique and set apart.”
So what does that mean in terms of decor for her own infant-to-be? We’ll have to wait and see, but we do have some strong wagers on what Joanna is bound to do based on her favorite nursery and kid room design touches from the past. Check ’em out!
A playful awning could grace the windows
Remember “The Pocket Door House” on Episode 12 last season? Chip and Joanna designed a playroom for the family’s two young children complete with an adorable wooden awning over the windows. Apparently it’s a look she’s loved ever since they built one in their first son’s room, according to Joanna’s Magnolia Market blog. Chances are good that Baby Gaines will have a similar awning, especially considering it’s been a while since they’ve designed one for a kid of their own.
Scalloped walls = kid-friendly shiplap?
Installing shiplap walls is one of Chip and Jo’s signature moves, but it doesn’t exactly scream “baby’s room.” However, if they’re tied to their signature trim, scalloped wall paneling (like the stuff used in one of their previous “Fixer Upper” homes, above) looks similar to shiplap but is precious enough for a nursery. We like the idea of installing it for a simple accent wall to offset their chosen paint color.
Antiques will likely make an appearance
Whether she dips into her extra furniture collection or stumbles upon the perfect piece on an antiquing trip, Jo is likely to incorporate antique furniture into the nursery. It’s a move she’s done before: The old wooden chicken feeder above lives in the Gaines’ playroom and is used as a shelf to store books and toys.
This kid could have a very big library
Clearly, Jo loves the idea of a substantial at-home library. According to a recent Instagram post, four of the upcoming homes on Season 5 feature their own floor-to-ceiling stacks of books. Does this mean she’ll be inspired to build a library in the nursery housing the Gaines brood’s fave reads?
Chip and Jo’s four kids will likely weigh in
The Gaines kids usually pop up in “Fixer Upper” episodes to help with the renovations in one way or another, whether it’s accompanying Mom on a shopping trip for accessories or helping Dad on demo day. They’re used to lending a hand and they clearly love it, so it’s almost guaranteed that Jo will ask for their input on their new sibling’s room.
