Can we talk? Melissa Rivers, the only child of the late comedian Joan Rivers, has listed her posh property in Pacific Palisades, CA, for $6.2 million, according to the Los Angeles Times.
The “Fashion Police” co-host had purchased the stylish spread in 1998 for $2.35 million, according to property records. Over the intervening years, the Palisades housing market has blossomed, and Rivers would stand to profit handsomely from this sale.
Not to worry, the 50-year-old New York native isn’t without a home. The mother of one picked up a “lavish” $11 million Santa Monica mansion in 2016, according to news reports. The 7,000-square-foot estate is reportedly at the end of a gated cul-de-sac, affording the TV personality primo privacy.
Built in 1953, the Pacific Palisades home blends the formal design of an East Coast traditional with a beachy, West Coast vibe. The six-bedroom home features lots of natural light with walls of French doors and floor-to-ceiling windows that look out to the backyard.
The large kitchen includes a center island with seating, and the family space features both a built-in banquette for casual meals, and a more formal dining area.
The living room opens to the backyard with a patio, pool, spa, and grassy lawn.
The top-floor master bedroom includes a private balcony, and a walk-in closet that doubles as a safe room. The en suite spa bath comes with a vanity, fainting couch, soaking tub, glass shower, and views.
There’s also a two-bed, two-bath guest suite on the lower level, and three additional bedrooms on the main floor.
“This home really embodies a unique cross-section of timeless elegance and light-soaked California luxury,” says listing agent Laura Brau of Pacific Union. “The location and design coupled with the sweeping views of the Pacific make this the ideal dream home for embracing casual yet chic oceanside living. It’s a truly special place.”
Rivers hosted the E! show “Fashion Police” and appeared in the movie “Joy,” in which she played the role of Joan Rivers. After her mother’s untimely death during a medical procedure in 2014, Melissa filed a malpractice lawsuit against the clinic that performed the surgery. In 2015, Melissa wrote a book honoring the comic, titled “The Book of Joan.” That same year, she sold her mother’s New York City penthouse for $28 million.
