The Encinitas, CA, home of former NFL tight end Kellen Winslow Jr.—currently behind bars on a rape conviction—has sold. The contemporary farmhouse changed hands this week for $2.85 million.

Initially charged with rape and kidnapping in 2018, the athlete had posted $2 million bail and lived under house arrest for a few months. However, after he was arrested on additional allegations of sexual misconduct while he was on house arrest, his bail was revoked, and he landed back in jail earlier this year.

Facing an array of allegations, Winslow, with his wife, Janelle, placed the single-story spread on the market in March for $3 million.

In June, a jury convicted Winslow of raping a homeless woman, but were deadlocked on eight other criminal charges related to alleged assaults on women. His single conviction carries a maximum sentence of nine years.

A new trial is set for September, and if the San Diego County District Attorney manages to get convictions on the other charges, Winslow could be facing life in prison.

As of now, the former football star remains in custody. His lawyers told CBS News that they plan to appeal the conviction. They also asked for his sentencing hearing to be postponed until he is retried next month.

Located in the posh beach city about 25 miles north of San Diego, the Encinitas estate sold by the Winslows offers ocean views.

Built in 2015, the spread includes four bedrooms, 4.5 bathrooms, and 4,251 square feet. The gated property includes a generously sized great room with truss beam ceilings and folding glass doors. The open kitchen includes quartz counters, a marble backsplash, and wood-tile flooring.

Outside, the almost 1-acre lot boasts a 900-square-foot covered outdoor kitchen and entertaining area.

In addition, the layout includes an office, a media room, and a playroom. Plus, the grounds offer a sport court and plenty of room to add a pool.

Winslow has made real estate headlines before. He had owned a home in Austin, TX, in his post-football career. He purchased it in 2014, and placed the hilly retreat on the market in 2017 for $2.15 million. The son of celebrated former San Diego Charger and Pro Football Hall of Famer Kellen Winslow Sr., the younger Winslow played in the NFL from 2004 through 2013.
