Two-time welterweight boxing world champion and former Olympian Andre Berto is trying to move on from the Beverly Hills, CA, mansion he purchased in 2017.

Not surprising for those who know Berto, the 4,922-square-foot home in the heart of the exclusive enclave is anchored by an open kitchen and living room fit for a chef and built for entertaining.

“I gotta have a nice kitchen,” Berto told the Los Angeles Times in March. “That’s always been a big selling point for me. Athletes’ prime real estate is our bodies, so I appreciate [my] kitchen because it allows me to really dial into cooking and my health and what’s going into my body. Also, I love cooking.”

The home features an open floor plan and a massive master suite accessible via a floating staircase. It also has a theater room, covered patio area with fireplace, and swimming pool and spa. It’s both homey and grand, something that fits in with Berto’s personal philosophy.

“I grew up with a nice balance. Growing up in a boxing household, we had to go out and work. We had to be the strongest we could be in our sports and always take it to another level, but at the same time we had to take care of our family,” he said. “If it’s cooking, if it’s cleaning, my father taught us to be all-around individuals.”

The boxer bought the home for $6.62 million in early 2017 and has been attempting to sell it since late 2018. It was initially on the market for $9 million and had its price chopped to the current ask about a month ago.

Born in Winter Haven, FL, to Haitian immigrants, Berto comes from a family of professional fighters. His father, Dieuseul, was a former kickboxer who competed in UFC 10, and both his sister, Revelina, and brother, James, are mixed martial artists. After competing in the 2004 Olympics, Berto turned pro, capturing his first welterweight title in 2008 after defeating Miguel Rodriguez.
