Amy Schumer Buys a Fab M Penthouse That’s No Laughing Matter
It’s official: Comedian Amy Schumer is moving on up! For years she slummed around in her purportedly “teensy” one-bedroom Manhattan apartment, which, by the way, has been lingering on the market since November for $2 million with no takers (could it be that it’s a fifth-floor walk-up? Or maybe it’s the no-pets policy?). But hey, it’s no biggie when you’re a rising star! In fact, Schumer has reportedly moved on and bought a new place—and man, is it ever an upgrade.
According to TMZ, Schumer purchased a five-bedroom, 5.5-bath penthouse for $12.15. Whoa, that’s some serious dough, Amy!
Granted, not much is known about the place yet. Still, it’s reportedly on the Upper West Side—same neighborhood as her old digs—and TMZ leaked a video of the apartment that’s downright breathtaking, and described the place as “Malibu beach house mixed with sophisticated Manhattan architecture.”
Clearly, all those years in a cramped one-bedroom had Schumer craving for a whole lot more space. The foyer has such high ceilings with skylights, it appears to have room for not just some houseplants, but a whole freakin’ tree. A bunch of them, in fact!
The penthouse also features incredible views of the Hudson River … and Jersey. Because every New York comedian dreams of the day she can look out over the “Armpit of America,” right? Seriously, though, New Jersey looks quite nice from afar.
And as if that weren’t enough, the penthouse also features a glass fireplace, media room, and private terrace just in case she’d like to pop outside. And at that elevation, we have to assume the building has an elevator. So no more trudging up tons of stairs, phew!
We must say, we are impressed. We knew this “Trainwreck” star was primed for better digs, but this new place is far beyond what we anticipated for this once-struggling comedian. Clearly no one’s laughing at her now.
