Big Unit, Big Cut: Randy Johnson Slices $5M Off the Price of AZ Mansion
Big Unit, Big Cut: Randy Johnson Slices M Off the Price of AZ Mansion
Randy Johnson, the towering left-handed pitcher who spent a sizable chunk of his career with the Arizona Diamondbacks, has thrown an off-speed pitch and dropped the price of his Arizona home by a whopping $5 million.
We’re not suggesting the new price tag is a bargain, however. The seven-bedroom, 12-bath home sitting on a 5-acre lot still clocks in at a hefty $19,995,000, down from an eye-popping $25 million in 2014.
Located in Paradise Valley, the exclusive listing looks like a fitness lover’s dream. There’s a detached 1,800-square-foot gym, pool, and tennis court on the landscaped grounds.
Perhaps this isn’t surprising given that the 53-year-old homeowner, known as the “Big Unit,” is a retired pro athlete. (Although it seems Johnson has turned his eye to photography these days.)
Inside, there are plenty of ways to entertain yourself without breaking a sweat. The Mediterranean-style estate includes a lower level with a recording studio, a music room with pro lighting, an instrument showroom, and a theater room with tiered seating.
“The movie theater is the best one that I’ve ever seen,” says listing agent Robert Joffe. “And the 5-acre property in general is phenomenal.”
Inside, the 25,000-square-foot home features an open kitchen, his-and-her offices, and a master bedroom with an oversize sitting area and patio.
There’s also a detached two-bedroom guesthouse.
As for the price, Joffe says, “We felt to be competitive in the marketplace, it was time for a reduction.”
And now it’s time for someone to step into the box and buy it.
