Another chapter in the divorce between the Buffalo Bills and Rex Ryan has unfolded.
The former head coach, who was relieved of his duties with one game remaining in the 2016 season, has put up his Orchard Park, NY mansion for sale with a list price of $1.1 million.
The two-story home has four bedrooms, nine baths (five full) and sits on over 6,500-square feet with “unbelievable” views overlooking downtown Buffalo, according to the listing agent.
“It’s to die for,” says agent Amy Pfister, who has helped sell homes for Buffalo football legends including Jim Kelly, Thurman Thomas, and Marshawn Lynch. “The home is a designer’s dream come true. It’s the perfect balance of informal elegance.”
According to Pfister, the Ryan family made the home their own after purchasing it for $975,000 in April of 2015—placing emphasis on exquisite indoor details that Pfister thinks will facilitate a quick sale.
Inside, potential buyers will find a large kitchen complete with a breakfast bar, granite counters, an island, and two pantries. The kitchen flows into a family room and a living/dining area. A custom entertainment center features three wall-size televisions along with a wine cellar and an elegant cigar area, Pfister says.
Other indoor features include a den, four fireplaces, California closets, family and morning rooms, and a private office.
But according to the agent, the exterior is truly what sets the mansion apart. Outside features include a balcony, BBQ, swimming pool, and hot tub. Together, they make up a private oasis.
Ryan has spent his entire head coaching career in the state of New York. In 2009, he took over the New York Jets and led the squad to back-to-back trips to the AFC Championship game.
His following four years at the helm of the Jets weren’t as successful, and he was fired in 2015. According to reports, Ryan sold his Summit, NJ home for $2.6 million before taking the Bills job and signing a five-year, $27.5 million deal with Buffalo.
In his first year at the helm, Ryan led the Bills to an 8-8 record and didn’t break the Bills’ playoff drought—one that now stands at 17 years.
The Bills had a slow start in 2016 and rumors of the boisterous head coach being axed began to swirl. With one game remaining on the schedule, the team announced that it had parted ways with the oft-outspoken coach. Ryan’s career record sits at 61-66 with a playoff record of 4-2.
