CapitaLand Vietnam CEO chosen as Vietnam’s 2016 Real Estate Personality
The 30-year property veteran will be feted at the Vietnam Property Awards gala in Ho Chi Minh City
When asked how to lead a successful real estate development company, Chen Lian Pang, CEO of CapitaLand Vietnam, gave a thoughtful answer.
“I believe that the best-run companies connect effectively with customers, employees, and the communities where they operate in – it is a continuous learning process where we learn from each other,” says Chen, who started investing in property in 1985.
With more than 30 years of experience in construction and real estate, Chen has earned a reputation of excellence, especially when it comes to doing business in emerging markets. For that he has been named as the Real Estate Personality of the Year at the Vietnam Property Awards 2016, recognising his achievements and exemplary leadership in the industry.
“It is a great honour and privilege to be chosen as Real Estate Personality of the Year 2016. This is a remarkable achievement not only for myself but also for CapitaLand Vietnam, and reflects our commitment to providing the highest quality products to homebuyers,” he says.
“I will use it as inspiration and affirmation to keep working hard and to keep continuing my dedication to real estate industry in Vietnam going forward.”
Chen, who has held several C-level appointments in the CapitaLand Group – including CEO of CapitaValue Homes Limited, CEO (Southeast Asia) of CapitaLand Commercial Limited, and CEO and managing director of TCC Capital Land – joined CapitaLand Vietnam as CEO in January 2013. He is spearheading the company’s further growth by launching world-class products and establishing positive demographic fundamentals.
“About two decades ago, CapitaLand identified the potential of Vietnam with its young, educated and hardworking population, rapidly growing economy and growing middle class,” he says. “After some challenging years, the Vietnam economy is now improving and we have seen positive signs in the property segment. Our company is well-positioned to ride on the potentially strong growth of the residential market in Vietnam.”
A three-time nominee at the Vietnam Property Awards 2016, CapitaLand Vietnam currently has seven launched projects – The Vista, Vista Verde, The Krista, Kris Vue, and PARCSpring in Ho Chi Minh City, and Mulberry Lane and Seasons Avenue in Hanoi – all of which are designed to provide opportunities for secure, good investment opportunities.
“Every one of CapitaLand’s projects deserve global attention,” he shares. “For me, being CEO of CapitaLand Vietnam is more than just looking at investment performance. Many skills go beyond quantitative measurements, such as strategic vision, authenticity, and long-term planning, when leading a company and creating value.”
A registered professional engineer, Chen started his career with the Housing and Development Board of Singapore. Prior to joining CapitaLand, he held senior positions at L&M International and Torie Construction Pte Ltd.
He received his Master of Science in Civil Engineering from the National University of Singapore and a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering (First Class Honours) from the University of Cardiff.
On 10 June, Chen will receive the Real Estate Personality of the Year award from the editors of Property Report, Asia’s leading luxury real estate, architecture and design magazine, at the Gala Dinner in InterContinental Asiana Saigon of the Vietnam Property Awards 2016.
Tickets for the black tie event, organised by PropertyGuru, Asia’s leading online property group, are priced USD180 (single person) and USD1,700 (table of 10), inclusive of cocktail networking reception and four-course dinner.
