Fans of the Bravo reality show “Flipping Out” may recognize this 1930s Los Feliz home on the market in Los Angeles for $3.3 million. It’s a property that star designer Jeff Lewis couldn’t stop buying, renovating, and flipping—not once, but two different times.
Designed by noted architect Wallace Neff, “The house is significant architecturally,” says listing agent Jackie Smith of the Agency.
She confirms that when the reality star sold the home on North Gramercy Place in 2015, it was his second time around. “He did restore it. He bought it again, and then he did another whole renovation again.”
Lewis first purchased the residence in 2004 but flipped it. “I had an instant connection,” he told People in 2013. “This house is so beautiful and interesting,” he says. “I regretted selling it.”
When the house wound up back on the market years later, he snapped up the property again, and embarked on a 12-month remodel, eventually deciding to sell it to the current owners, who are letting it go after living in it for almost two years.
Still, we can certainly see the draw. Built in 1937, the traditional construction is quite a looker. The sellers didn’t need to do a thing to it inside, but did add landscaping and outdoor lighting to highlight the home at night.
The elegant three-bedroom, 3.5 bath, 3,750 square-foot estate has been “meticulously updated,” which comes as no surprise to viewers of the show, who have watched Lewis’ studied attention to every last design detail.
The remodel features an open living room and gourmet kitchen with breakfast bar and access to an outside dining area. Architectural details include dark wood floors, leaded-glass windows, and wood-paneled ceilings.
There’s also an upstairs den with exposed beams and fireplace, a master suite with a clotheshorse’s dream closet, en suite guest quarters, and an outdoor covered terrace.
The showpiece might be the dramatic formal dining room with black and white marble flooring and walls of glass. “To eat a meal with the French doors open and look out to the city is incredible,” Smith says.
Outdoors boasts a tiered backyard with pool and spa, kitchen, fire pit, and multiple lounge areas for entertaining.
The iconic neighborhood includes the wilderness and hiking trails of Griffith Park and landmark Observatory.
Another plus: the glorious estate offers plenty of privacy. “It’s gated, hedged, and private, which is a nice feature. It’s good for another celebrity,” Smith says. Perhaps Lewis might be tempted one more time.
