China Property Awards officially returns for third annual show in 2016

Call for entries from the Mainland, Hong Kong and Macau are being accepted until 2 September

The China Property Awards 2016 and Property Report Congress China 2016 were formally launched at Club Lusitano in Hong Kong on 28 July.

China’s real estate industry will once again honour the best developers and developments of the year at the third annual China Property Awards, the country’s most prestigious awards for the property sector, organised by PropertyGuru Group.

The finest developers and current developments in China’s biggest cities – Beijing, Guangzhou, Shanghai, and Shenzhen – are eligible for the China Awards. There are categories for Best Residential and Best Commercial Developments for each city, plus accolades for the Best Green Development and a Special Recognition in Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR).

Meanwhile, the Hong Kong & Macau Awards will shine the spotlight on the territories’ Best Ultra Luxury Condo, Best Luxury Condo, Best Housing Development, Best Retail Development, Best Office Development, Best Hotel Development, Best Mixed-Use Development and Best Green Development.

Nominations are now being accepted until 2 September 2016 at AsiaPropertyAwards.com/nomination/china/. Submissions can come from developers, consumers and the general public.

The China Property Awards 2016 was formally launched to the media at the Club Lusitano in Hong Kong on 28 July. Attending the press conference were: Terry Blackburn, founder and managing director of the Asia Property Awards and Property Report, Asia’s industry-leading magazine; Trevor Vivian, global director of design firm Benoy and chairman of the judging panel; Vincent Cheung, executive director at Asia Colliers International; and Andrew Lam, partner at BDO, official judging supervisor.

Speaking on behalf of the judging panel, Vivian said: “We have a diverse and experienced group of judges from all fields of the Chinese property market who I am excited to be working alongside. Each of the judges will bring a different perspective to the process and with their expertise, provide a thorough review and recommendation.”

As is with the other Asia Property Awards events in ASEAN since 2005, the top winners on the Mainland and in Hong Kong & Macau will compete in the Best of the Best round for the following: Best Condo Development (China), Best Housing Development (China) and Best Commercial Development (China).

“The major advantage of developers in China is their delivery of large developments in short time frames,” noted Vivian. “They have been quick learners and the quality of work has improved greatly, especially in the first-tier cities.”

There will be two recipients of the highest honours of the year, one for Best Developer (China) and one for Best Developer (Hong Kong & Macau).

In addition to the 23 award categories, the editors of Property Report will also award the Real Estate Personality of the Year to an individual who has contributed significantly to China’s burgeoning property sector in the past year. It will be the only award that is not selected by the judging panel.

Building on the success of the 2015 ceremony that was attended by nearly 500 high-profile guests, the China Property Awards 2016 is a reminder of the strength of Greater China’s dynamic property sector. Despite the turbulence of the slowing Chinese economy, the ongoing cooling measures in Hong Kong and first-tier cities, and a significant decline in property values in Macau, China real estate is still one of the biggest in Asia and the world, and the country remains a top producer of world-class and innovative developments.

“Don’t count China out – some of Asia-Pacific’s best developments can be found here,” said Blackburn. “It is an honour to welcome the participation of China’s major developers and emerging players year after year.”

He added: “These entrants raise the benchmark of quality in the Chinese property sector and we are proud to have laid the foundations – since 2014 when we first launched in China – for their continued success in this country and across the region via our internationally-acclaimed Asia Property Awards programme, which is known for its fairness, transparency and credibility.”

Finalists will be announced in the final week of October 2016. Winners will be revealed on Tuesday, 1 November, at an exclusive, black-tie event in JW Marriott Hong Kong.

Also debuting on 1 November is the Property Report Congress China, a high-level conference featuring top regional experts and Asia Property Award-winners who will talk about the investment opportunities and potential targets for Chinese investors in the Southeast Asian region. The whole-day conference will take place right before the awards ceremony.

The China Property Awards 2016 Gala Dinner will boosted by the support of some of the country’s highly respected business associations and media outfits, official media partner Property Report, as well as the network of 16 million real estate consumers of organiser PropertyGuru Group, Asia’s leading online property group.

Super early bird tickets to China’s premier real estate event are now available. For bookings and more information, contact [email protected] or visit the official website.
