Chip and Joanna Gaines Are Having Another Boy! 8 Items We’ll Bet Will Be in the Nursery
It looks like Joanna Gaines will be designing her nursery for a baby boy! On Wednesday, her husband, Chip, revealed the sex of their baby in a video on Twitter. The “Fixer Upper” duo and parents of four have a tradition of giving their sons names that start with “D” (you remember Duke, 9, and Drake, 12, right?), which is why Chip asks the little boy in the video for “D” name suggestions. “So far all I can come up with is Dragon!” Chip jokes.
Fans surmise that Joanna’s due date is around mid-July, which gives her plenty of time to curate a cozy and chic nursery for Baby Boy Gaines. If you’ve seen “Fixer Upper,” you’re familiar with the modern farmhouse vibe that’s already present throughout their home in Waco, TX. While we expect to see plenty of exposed wood and repurposed antiques, we’d wager that Jo is likely to pull from her own home decor lines at Magnolia Market and Target, too. There are plenty of trims and accessories that will make baby No. 5’s room one of her most special projects yet. Want to see our picks? Read on.
1. An old-school pennant
How adorable would this inspiring, vintage-style pennant ($22, magnolia.com) be hanging on the wall of the nursery? It’s made of wool and cotton felt, just like classic pennants.
2. Wooden vegetable toys
When Baby Boy Gaines is older he’ll surely be joining his siblings out in the garden picking fresh-grown veggies with their mom and dad. Until then, he can play with these wooden toys shaped like vegetables ($19.99, target.com) from Chip and Jo’s Hearth & Hand with Magnolia collection at Target.
3. Striped floor pillow
I don’t think we’ve ever seen Chip and Joanna install carpeting in any of the homes on “Fixer Upper,” so we feel confident assuming the nursery will have hardwood flooring. To make playtime on the ground a little more comfortable, these linen floor pillows ($49.99, target.com) will come in handy. They come in two colors—green stripe and black stripe—but we see Jo going for the fresh shade of green.
4. A paint color other than baby blue
Speaking of colors, we reckon Joanna is going to go beyond the traditional blue color scheme for her boy’s nursery; something about it feels too obvious. Choosing paint for the walls can be a dizzying experience, but if she goes with one of her favorite colors from her Magnolia Home Premium Interior Paint line, the choice will be much easier.
Our pick? A shade called Americana Egg ($44, magnolia.com), which is described as a “cloudy gray with mint green and sky blue undertones.”
5. Wooden toys
There’s no denying Chip and Jo’s new bundle of joy will have tons of toys, but none will be as chic as these. The wooden rattle, truck, and camera ($12, $16, $32, magnolia.com) from Magnolia Home are finished with natural beeswax and flaxseed oil to make them smooth to the touch.
6. Baby swaddle
Among the most useful items the Gaineses will buy and store in the nursery for their newborn are swaddle blankets. This one ($26, magnolia.com) is 100% organic cotton and bears a sweet Bible passage.
7. Toy tool bench
Will Chip and Jo’s baby grow up to be as handy as his papa? Only time will tell. Perhaps this 38-piece set of wooden toy tools ($99, target.com) will inspire a love of building in the little guy. Those skills might come in handy if demo day is somewhere in his future.
8. Woven baskets
Nothing says storage solution like woven baskets. These stylish and streamlined storage baskets ($54 and up, magnolia.com) will keep swaddle blankets, pacifiers, and baby wipes organized. They come in sizes small and large so Jo can place a couple of small ones on a dresser or shelf and some large ones on the floor to corral toys.
