After an NBA career that saw him travel from Miami to Memphis, point guard Mario Chalmers made his biggest (and boldest) move yet when he decided to sign with Virtus Bologna of the Italian Lega Basket Serie A.

Moving to Europe has spurred the two-time NBA champ to part with his stately home in North Carolina. Located in Matthews, the massive 11,011-square-foot manor has landed on the market for $2.2 million.

Sitting on a large lot, the custom home boasts five bedrooms and 6.5 bathrooms. The listing says it’s “built like a fortress,” and it’s hard to argue.

The grand rooms feature a chef’s kitchen, home gym, billiard room, and library. Out back is an enormous in-ground pool and hot tub. It’s represented by Danny F. Dunn of American Home Property.

Chalmers had an impressive college career at the University of Kansas—he was part of the 2007–08 NCAA championship team and won Co-Defensive Player of the Year and Most Outstanding Player of the NCAA tournament. He began his NBA career in 2008 with the Miami Heat.

After eight seasons in Miami, during which he was part of two NBA championship teams, Chalmers was traded to the Memphis Grizzlies in 2015 and would play two seasons there before deciding to leave the NBA and play in Europe in March 2019.
