Colin Kaepernick is back in the news, although this time it has nothing to do with the National Anthem: The San Francisco 49ers quarterback has bought a Tribeca condo and is selling off his San Jose home.

Mr. Kaepernick quietly bought the two-bedroom apartment in luxury development One York for $3.21 million in July under a family trust, Mansion Global has learned.

His new apartment has an open gourmet kitchen and spa bathrooms with whirlpool tubs and Calcutta Gold marble flooring, according to an old listing with Compass. The 13-story building by starchitect Enrique Norten has an around-the-clock concierge, a 28-foot outdoor swimming pool and a private parking garage for the unit.

The quarterback can even supplement his training at the building’s private health club.

Mr. Kaepernick’s new apartment, at 1,733 square feet, is only a fraction of the size of the mansion he’s now selling in San Jose.

That home, a 4,569-square-foot house in San Jose’s Silver Creek neighborhood, includes four bedrooms, five- and-a-half baths, and an open-concept living space. Of course, it’s also got the bells and whistles you’d expect from a star football player’s pad, like a screening room, a private waterfall swimming pool and jacuzzi, a wall aquarium, and a private driveway with an electronic gate and camera security system.

He announced through the team on Thursday that he’s listed the mansion for $2.895 million.

According to the listing, the property benefited from a $300,000 renovation, presumably by the 29-year-old athlete, who moved in two years ago.

Mr. Kaepernick bought his San Jose home under a family trust for $2.7 million in 2014, according to property records.

Some are speculating that this could be a sign that Mr. Kaepernick’s days in San Fran are coming to an end, since he’s able to opt out of his contract at the end of the season after restructuring it in October.

During the last few months, the baller’s been getting a ton of attention not only for his skills on the field but also for his refusal to stand while the national anthem is played at football games.

Mr. Kaepernick explained his action, saying it was his way of protesting the flag that “oppresses black people,” a statement met with both criticism and support.

Listing agent Mike Strouf of Intero Real Estate in California didn’t immediately return requests for comment.
