The time has come for former Philadelphia 76ers general manager Sam Hinkie to trust the real estate process.

Less than a year after stepping down as GM in one of the more contentious executive breakups in NBA history, Hinkie has put his mansion in Bryn Mawr, PA, up for sale for $3.1 million.

Located on a private cul-de-sac overlooking 25 acres of the Harriton Farm Preservation and built in the 19th century, the home has five bedrooms and seven bathrooms spread over three levels of living space.

A stone wall serves as the home’s axis and accommodates three floor-to-ceiling fireplaces. According to the listing agent, the restoration of the property—which included top-of-the-line masonry, stone work, and mechanical, electrical, and plumbing upgrades—won the Lower Merion Preservation Award in 2005 .

The 8,453-square-foot mansion is surrounded by yards on all sides and also features a custom library, mudroom redesign, deck, and patio.

The exec bought the home in 2014 for $2.66 million after the 76ers hired him with the hopes of turning around one of the league’s premier franchises.

Hinkie proved to be one of the most unconventional and controversial general managers ever in his short stint with the 76ers. During his tenure with the team, he was known for “The Process,” a high-risk approach to roster building in which the team would lose in an attempt to acquire young talent at the top of the NBA draft. He also stockpiled players signed to league-minimum contracts to stay near the bottom of the NBA’s salary cap in hopes of facilitating bolder roster moves at a later time.

The win-later mentality, coupled with Hinkie’s unapologetic approach to executing it, turned heads in the NBA’s executive offices, in the players’ locker room, and with 76er fans. In 2016, the embattled GM resigned, submitting a 13-page letter to team ownership that publicly explained his process.

During his tenure, the 76ers amassed an NBA-worst record of 47-195.

According to a recent report in Sports Illustrated, Hinkie now lives in Silicon Valley and is plotting his next venture.
