Cowboys QB Mark Sanchez Buys Gated Home in SoCal’s Dana Point
Dallas Cowboys quarterback Mark Sanchez has picked up a four-bedroom, 4.5-bath mansion in the wealthy Southern California enclave of Dana Point for $1.95 million.
Sanchez was born and raised in Southern California, and his new home is located less than a half-hour from the high school he attended.
Records show the 4,774-square-foot house was built in 1964 in the Monarch Bay neighborhood, a gated waterfront community near Monarch Beach and the Dana Point State Marine Conservation Area. It was renovated in 2001 and also shows a conflicting build date of 2003, so we’ll hazard a guess that extensive overhauling occurred.
Homes in this neighborhood routinely sell for $5 million or more. A five-bedroom mansion just down the street from Sanchez’s new home is currently listed for $22.9 million. Sanchez appears to have scored a good deal with his house, which was last sold for $3 million in 2014.
The home features an open floor plan, cathedral ceilings, and views of the Pacific Ocean. There’s a covered patio, two fireplaces, and a three-car garage.
The Monarch Bay community is relatively established by Southern California standards, with the bulk of its roughly 215 homes being built in the 1960s. It’s located just off the Pacific Coast Highway, near the St. Regis Hotel, Ritz-Carlton, and Montage Resort.
Sanchez, 30, was drafted in 2009 by the New York Jets and led the team to consecutive appearances in the AFC Championship Game. After initial success, he bounced around the NFL. Currently signed to a one-year, $2 million contract with the Cowboys, he saw his first significant action of the season in a meaningless Week 17 appearance against the Eagles in which he threw two interceptions.
