Design Disaster? Kooky Kessler Mansion Is This Week’s Most Popular Home
The “heinous mansion” in Indianapolis that set social media abuzz topped the most-viewed listings on realtor.com® this week. The Web couldn’t get enough of the outlandish Kessler Mansion, the sprawling spread that grew from a ranch home to a giant compound full of highly questionable decor, plus fountains, a grotto, and multiple statues. Page views on the property surpassed the six-figure mark, and it outpaced the runner-up by a factor of 10.
Speaking of second place, that’s where we found the unfinished megamansion of Texas Rangers ace Cole Hamels. The space—ideal for a buyer willing to come out of the bullpen and finish the work—is a catch. It comes with a 32,000-square-foot home, 104 acres, and 1,700 feet of water frontage in Branson West, MO.
There was another mansion on the list that caught our eye this week. Built for the founder of American Gas Company, the huge home stayed with the family over generations, but eventually sat empty for decades. At 8,000 square feet, the size of the house was way more space than the owners needed.
“It’s a massive old mansion,” says listing agent Leesa Belt-Haglund. Located near Pittsburgh, the listing attracted local history buffs and plenty of clicks.

Perched on a hill, the home offers “details you just can’t buy anymore,” she adds. Buyers agreed. With multiple offers, the home is already in contract.
