‘Dog Whisperer’ Cesar Millan Doesn’t Want to Stay in Studio City Home

Even though Cesar Millan‘s newish home in Studio City, CA, is in a prime dog-walking neighborhood, he’s trying his best to sell it, recently cutting the price to $1.8 million. That’s about $200,000 less than its list price in 2015, before he took the home off the market.

The best-selling author and Emmy-nominated host of the “Dog Whisperer” bought the brand-new house in 2012 for $1.6 million. But if you’re expecting it to be remodeled with kennels, dog doors, and dog runs, you’re in for a surprise. All the training and TV magic take place up in the hills of Santa Clarita, at his 43-acre Dog Psychology Center, where he has a sheep herding area, air-conditioned kennels, swimming pool, obstacle course, and hiking trails.

The property he’s put on the market is more of a city home; it measures 3,800 square feet and has five bedrooms and 4.5 baths. There are no signs of canine wear and tear here—it’s in pristine designer condition, with formal living and dining rooms, walnut wood floors, white plantation shutters, soaring coffered ceilings, and a chef’s kitchen.

It’s a safe bet Millan and his new wife, Jazira Dar, were quite comfy in the lavish master bedroom, with its double doors, two walk-in closets, sitting area, dual-sided fireplace, and balcony.

The master bath is also worth barking about: You’ll find the other side of the fireplace in the wall over the spa tub, plus an oversize step-in shower with custom tiles, a makeup vanity, and double sinks.

Of course the back and front yards are meticulously landscaped, because the canine guru has presumably trained his dogs not to dig or chew up plants. Out back there’s a covered patio, fireplace, pool, spa, and plenty of green lawn. We’re curious how he got rid of the brown spots (no dog is that well-trained). In the front yard, there’s a modern fountain setting the stage for a Zen entry.

Millan, who crossed the border from Mexico into California in 1990 at the age of 21, went from dog groomer to one of the most prominent dog rehabilitation experts in the world. He currently stars in “Cesar 911” on the Nat Geo Wild channel, a show where he brings balance to relationships, households, and neighborhoods being torn apart by out-of-control dogs.
