Dumped by the Ducks, Mark Helfrich Lists His Adorable Oregon Home
A little more than a year after signing a five-year extension to remain head coach of the Oregon Ducks football team, Mark Helfrich was dumped by the school.
Even though he’ll still get paid, Helfrich decided to put his five-bedroom home in Eugene, OR, on the market. It was recently listed for $649,000, about a month after Helfrich was fired by the school.
He led the team to the National Championship Game just a couple of years ago, but he couldn’t survive a 4-8 record in the 2016 season—the school’s worst in over two decades.
His gorgeous home in the North Gilham neighborhood offers over 3,400 square feet of living space. The kitchen was just remodeled with classic finishes.
The home also features an open family room with a high ceiling, hardwood flooring, and loads of light. The main level has plenty of space for an office, den, or crafts room. A suite and master bedroom are located on the upper level. There’s a covered patio out back with a hot tub.
Built in 1994 and located in a cul-de-sac, it offers the privacy a public figure requires.
Helfrich was the first Oregon head coach to be fired in over 40 years after posting the program’s worst record since 1991. The Ducks failed to reach a bowl game for the first time since 2004.
In 2015, Helfrich signed a five-year, $17.5 million extension that bumped his yearly salary to $3.75 million. His buyout is reportedly an eight-figure ssum.
As for the Ducks, they’ve hired former University of South Florida head coach Willie Taggart to head up their football program.
