Ellen Pompeo Lists Gorgeous .8M Modern Farmhouse in Hamptons

“Grey’s Anatomy” star Ellen Pompeo has made a name for herself on screen, but fans of the long-running show may not know her hobby is creating unforgettable home design. Now, the actress is showing off her skills with the listing for her gorgeous home in Sag Harbor, NY.

On the market for $3.8 million, the home was a summer residence for Pompeo and her family. But now, they need more space.

“Originally, Ellen had two children and she designed it with two separate family suites in mind,” listing agent Jane Babcook of Brown Harris Stevens told Newsday. “But now that she has had her third child, she has outgrown the house.” Babcock, along with Mark J. Baron, is representing the property.

The home was featured in Architectural Digest last summer, and Pompeo told the magazine that the property’s history initially attracted her. When she purchased it in 2011, the property had a cabin, which was built by a woman who was a civil rights activist and lawyer.

“She actually built it with her own two hands,” Pompeo told the magazine. “Originally, I was given the advice to build on the original footprint of the cabin, because it would save time and money. Well, it didn’t save either,” she said.

Pompeo razed the existing structure and, in its place, built a 2,400-square-foot home. Completed in 2013, the home has a rustic-looking exterior but is modern and luxurious on the inside.

The living room features a double-height ceiling and two sets of french doors which open to a screened-in porch, complete with cozy fireplace. The “country kitchen,” according to the listing, has an attached dining area. The home has four bedrooms and four bathrooms, including a guest wing off the den and two rooms off the upstairs loft.

There’s also a finished lower level with media room and full bath. Outdoors, there’s a bluestone patio and heated pool.

The property is in the process of being subdivided into two 2-acre lots and a 4-acre preserve.

Pompeo’s initial plan was to use the farmhouse as a guesthouse and build a larger, main house on the prime Hamptons property. But the plan was upended when Pompeo fell in love with a modern beach house in Malibu, CA, and threw herself into that project.

Pompeo and her husband, Chris Ivery, welcomed their third child in December 2016. We can’t wait to see what kind of home Pompeo decides to dream up next and, for what it’s worth, we’d love a peek at the Malibu beach house when it’s ready.
