Former NFL quarterback Matt Hasselbeck is putting roots down in his home state of Massachusetts. In late August, he and his wife closed on a $5.6 million mansion in the wealthy Boston suburb of Weston.
The 12,835-square-foot home on 2.4 acres features six bedrooms, seven full bathrooms, and two half-baths. Built in 1997, it was completely renovated in 2016 with an expansive open floor plan.
The home’s state-of-the-art kitchen features stainless-steel appliances, skylights, large center island, and stone countertops. It opens to a family room with a fireplace and oak-beam cathedral ceiling.
A curved stairway leads to five en suite bedrooms on the second floor. The home’s master suite features a cathedral ceiling, fireplace, and master bath. The home’s third floor could be converted into a gym or playroom, according to the listing.
The home also includes a cherry wood library, 3,100-square-foot barn with three horse stalls, riding arena, and a garage that fits at least eight cars. The home was originally listed in February for nearly $6.5 million. The former quarterback is still trying to hand off his Indianapolis mansion, cutting the price last week to $1.4 million.
Hasselbeck, 41, was drafted in 1998 and played 17 seasons as a quarterback for the Green Bay Packers, Seattle Seahawks, Tennessee Titans, and Indianapolis Colts. He spent 10 seasons in Seattle, leading his team to the playoffs six times, and to an appearance in Super Bowl XL.
In February, Hasselbeck announced he was retiring from football and would replace Mike Ditka on ESPN’s “Sunday NFL Countdown.” His younger brother Tim Hasselbeck is also a football analyst on ESPN and recently settled with his wife, Elizabeth, in Nashville.
Matt Hasselbeck’s new home in Weston is less than a half-hour away from his childhood home in Westwood, MA, and his alma mater, Boston College, where he played football and met his wife ,Sarah. His father, Don Hasselbeck, played six seasons with the New England Patriots.
