Fashion Designer Hedi Slimane Trims Price on Chic Beverly Hills Home
When you buy a home from one of the world’s top fashion designers, you can be sure the interiors will be chic.
Such is the case with this midcentury modern home in Beverly Hills, CA. It’s currently owned by Hedi Slimane, creative director at the prestigious French luxury house of Celine.
And as any savvy fashion brand does when it needs to move inventory off the shelves, Slimane has reduced the price on his current offering. Originally listed in December for $17.5 million, the sleek home is now priced at $17 million.
The home was originally designed by architect Rex Lotery in 1961. Slimane bought it in 2009 for $4.1 million and proceeded to add his tasteful touches to turn the home into the equivalent of a residential supermodel.
The measurements of this sleek pad total 4,562 square feet of living space, with five bedrooms and six baths. It’s set on a half-acre lot with stellar views of Century City.
It’s also very private, situated at the end of a quiet cul-de-sac in the elite Trousdale Estates neighborhood. From the front, the home is obscured by an array of banana trees and other tropical plants.
Once inside the gates, however, everything is supremely structured and minimalistic. A walkway lined with large cement slabs takes you over grass, gravel, and a modern moat fed by steel pipe fountains, to the glass and steel structure beyond.
The single-story floor plan is gloriously open, illuminated by floor-to-ceiling glass windows and doors at every turn. Rooms of note include a multilevel great room with a towering ceiling, a chef’s kitchen, an office/media room, and a luxe sauna.
The yard has a resort quality to it, with hammocks slung between palm trees, a generously sized pool, and a fire pit, just waiting for cocktails and conversation.
Slimane’s current employer is based in Paris, which might have a little something to do with his already having vacated the premises. Slimane was previously the creative director for both Dior Homme and Yves Saint Laurent. In November, Slimane landed at the top of Vanity Fair’s annual list of the “50 Most Influential French People in the World.”
