Once the highest-paid university athletic director in the country, Shawn Eichorst was sacked by the University of Nebraska in September. While a head coach is usually the first to be fired when a team lays an egg, Eichorst was let go after a particularly galling loss by the football team to Northern Illinois University.

With the storied Nebraska football program in flux, Eichorst’s exit meant he had unload the fancy mansion in Lincoln his family called home during his five years as a Cornhusker.

The $1.8 million, five-bedroom, six-bathroom home is currently in pending sale status. The Eichorst family had purchased the home in 2013 for $1,364,000.

Built in 2013, the home was designed by Lincoln’s high-profile Kenning Design Build. It features built-ins, a spacious kitchen, and a walkout basement.

According to Omaha.com, the house was used to host many parties for athletes, earning Eichorst praise from the school administration for saving money and forming relationships with students.

Eichorst drew fire from Cornhuskers fans for hiring football coach Mike Riley, who was also recently fired after three lackluster seasons. According to Omaha.com, Eichorst was also disliked for forcing the resignation of celebrated women’s basketball coach Connie Yori over shaky allegations of mistreating her players,.

His replacement at Nebraska, Bill Moos, was hired in October. Hopefully, selling the house will help the 50-year-old Eichorst and his family make a fresh start.
