Antwaan Randle El, the former Pittsburgh Steeler receiver, is selling his Leesburg, VA, estate for $2.3 million. It’s quite a catch.

The French country–style home sits on over 3 acres and features five bedrooms, six bathrooms, and 8,455 square feet of living space. Deluxe qualities include a two-story family room, several fireplaces, and media room. The chef’s kitchen features glazed, cream-colored cabinets with a large center island topped with granite. The master bathroom is huge, with long stretches of his-and-her vanities. The property also includes a pool, sport court, entertainment patio, and pool house.

Randle El, who played baseball, basketball, and football at Indiana University, was an NFL wide receiver for nine seasons, hauling in 370 receptions over his career. He joined the Steelers in 2002 and wound up making football history as the only wide receiver to throw a touchdown pass in a Super Bowl. He also played for the Washington Redskins, hence the house in suburban Virginia.

The former wideout made headlines earlier this year when he told the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette that his body and mind are slipping and that he regrets choosing football as a career. He had been drafted out of high school to play baseball for the Chicago Cubs, but, under parental pressure, chose to attend college and play football, instead.

“If I could go back, I wouldn’t,” he told the Post-Gazette. “I would play baseball. … Don’t get me wrong—I love the game of football. But right now, I could still be playing baseball.”

Randle El retired in 2010 and helped to found a Christian high school in Ashburn, VA, a suburb in Washington, DC. As the school’s athletic director, Randle El dropped the football program because it was too expensive and risky, he said.

“The kids are getting bigger and faster, so the concussions, the severe spinal cord injuries, are only going to get worse,” he said. “It’s a tough pill to swallow because I love the game of football. But I tell parents, you can have the right helmet, the perfect pads on, and still end up with a paraplegic kid.”
