Former Vikings All-Pro Matt Birk Selling Greenwich Colonial for .85M
Retired NFL All-Pro Matt Birk is writing another page in his expanding real estate playbook—this time in the wealthy suburb of Greenwich, CT. His home, an expansive Colonial set near the Cos Cob Harbor, is up for sale at $3.85 million.
“It’s priced at what he paid for it” in 2014, listing agent Leon Grimm says. “It’s competitively priced. Greenwich has gone up since the time he bought it.”
Birk’s Gold Coast retreat is a six-bedroom, 6,912-square-foot home that had been remodeled “from head to toe” in 2008, Grimm says. The previous owners redid the kitchen and bathrooms, installed a swimming pool, and added a balcony off the second-floor master bedroom. Built in 1991, the Colonial-style home features a grand foyer with a sweeping staircase which gives it an “almost Georgian” vibe, Grimm says.
Downstairs is a massive, finished basement with a big-screen television surrounded by built-in cabinetry and a gym with wall-length mirrors. The basement is officially listed as 1,500 square feet, but Grimm says it’s probably closer to 2,000.
Birk, 39, recently moved to the area for a corporate job at the NFL’s New York headquarters. Grimm says the former Minnesota Vikings and Baltimore Ravens center didn’t say why he’s moving out, although he notes that Birk may be eyeing Florida for some new real estate. Grimm believes Birk continues to work for the NFL, and Birk’s LinkedIn profile says he still holds his NFL gig.
