Francis Ford Coppola is a renowned filmmaker and winemaker, but he’s also a real estate investor, owning a number of properties both large and small, under his Sofia Properties banner.

His property holding company is named after his daughter, Sofia Coppola, an award-winning director in her own right.

One of his smaller properties, a two-bedroom, two-bath, 1,300-square-foot bungalow in Beverly Hills, CA, is now available for rent at $5,000 per month. Coppola isn’t the first celebrity to own the place—he purchased it from Argentinian actress and singer Mia Maestro for $1.3 million in 2015. It’s been a rental ever since.

“It’s the perfect urban retreat, a modern cottage on a cul-de-sac in the hills above the Beverly Hills Hotel. A little bit of country close to everything,” says Barry Gray, senior partner at Deasy/Penner & Partners. Kristal Moffett of Deasy/Penner is responsible for the rental.

The home’s described as “Canyon chic,” but it’s not rustic by any means. It has a chef’s kitchen with stainless-steel appliances, including a Sub-Zero refrigerator, dark wood flooring, marble bathrooms, and built-in cabinets, closets, and shelving.

There’s also a terraced garden, mature trees, and a lovely deck on the property. But don’t even think about using the garage. The rental has only street parking—the garage is off-limits.

In addition to his vineyards and winery, Coppola has other real estate interests in resorts in Belize, Guatemala, Argentina, and Italy, as well as San Francisco’s famed Sentinel Building. He has his business office at the Sentinel, and the building’s ground-floor restaurant, Cafe Zoetrope, serves his wines.

Coppola is responsible for two of the greatest movies in cinema history: “The Godfather” and “The Godfather, Part II.” In recent years, the acclaimed director has turned his focus to experimental filmmaking and an expanding wine empire headquartered in Sonoma County.
