George Strait Selling Custom Adobe Estate in San Antonio for .9M

Here’s a home worth singing about. Country music star George Strait is crooning a goodbye tune to his San Antonio, TX, mansion. 

The 67-year-old “King of Country” now has his custom home on the market for $8.9 million. Tamara Strait of Strait Luxury and Kuper Sotheby’s International Realty holds the listing.

Completed in 1995, the Santa Fe-style gated estate took two years to build, according to Tamara Strait (who is related to George). 

Designed by artist and architect Bill Tull, the hand-crafted space includes such details as artist-designed stained-glass windows, hand-painted murals, and 14 hand-carved fireplaces. 

Personal touches are everywhere, from the shutters made of cactus to the hand-painted tiles, to the custom doorknobs. Noting that Tull has since passed away, “This house could never be recreated,” says Strait. “There will never be a house like it.”

Placing such a personal property on the market “had everything to do with wanting more space and being further out,” Strait says. “He just wanted to move further out of the city. If he could pick that house up and move it, he would. It’s still his dream home.”

With three bedrooms and six baths, the 7,925-square-foot main house, plus a one-bedroom casita, easily fits the bill when it comes to dream houses.

Located in the exclusive community of the Dominion on 12.2 secluded acres, the one-of-a-kind residence offers views of San Antonio and the hill country. With proximity to the outdoors, the entertaining spaces seamlessly expand the indoor space outside.
