Get Into the Groove With Madonna’s Former Sunset Boulevard Mansion
Pop icon Madonna and the storied locale of Sunset Boulevard fit like hand in lace fingerless glove.
Or at least they did from 2013 to 2015, when she owned a French Country estate in Beverly Hills, located up a tree-lined private drive right off one of L.A.’s most notorious thoroughfares.
Since the legendary artist called this mansion home, the spread has been through a major renovation. The current owners have recently listed it for $35 million, a lofty price increase the Material Girl would likely approve.
It’s a serious price bump from the price Madonna was able to negotiate in 2015. Madge listed the mansion for $28 million, before finally letting it go for $19 million. She bought the 1.17 acre estate in 2013 from actress Sela Ward for $19.5 million.
Even the best-selling female recording artist of all-time has a flop every now and then. When compared to “Swept Away,” her half-million loss was just a minor speed bump.
The home’s current owners did an extensive remodel on the eight-bedroom, 14-bath estate. They added hand-made, custom-milled cabinetry, new marble counters and backsplashes, new hardwood floors, a new surround sound system, a high-end fitness center, a full bar, and a designer kitchen … with chandeliers!
Yet Madonna’s presence lingers, according to listing agent Mauricio Umansky, co-founder of The Agency. “With glamorous grounds that include a beautiful, resort-inspired pool and tennis court, you can really envision one of the world’s most iconic singers soaking up the quintessential California lifestyle during the time she lived on the property,” he says.
Other luxury features include two separate, detached guesthouses (one likely to have been used for staff), a posh 15-seat home theater, and seven fireplaces. That should keep the new owner burning up, or at least cozy and warm.
Madonna seems to be committed to living abroad these days. Over the past few years, she’s moved from London to Lisbon, where she is currently living with her family.
She’s reported to be working on her 14th album, as well as an MGM film called “Taking Flight,” based on the memoir of the ballet dancer Michaela DePrince, and also adapting the novel “The Impossible Lives of Greta Wells” for the big screen.
