As part of the wildly ambitious The Heart of Europe (THOE) within The World development – the manmade islands off the coast of Dubai – St Petersburg island is set to compete against the world’s best luxury honeymoon destinations.

As Construction Week Online writes, Kleindienst, the firm behind the project, has announced that the heart-shaped St Petersburg island will be the first UAE development to specifically target the newlyweds market.

The island draws inspiration from the world’s most desirable honeymoon destinations, such as those in the Caribbean, Bora Bora and the Maldives.

The central heart-shaped development will be surrounded by 90 Floating Seahorse villas, connected to the island by jetties.

The development is part of ‘The World’ – a 300 island archipelago which began work in 2008, but soon stalled in the wake of the financial crash.

Josef Kleindienst, chairman of the project, said:

“St Petersburg Island will be a dream destination for couples and newlyweds. The five-star resort will offer privacy, tranquillity, and first-class hospitality to ensure a memorable and once-in-a-lifetime experience.

“The honeymoon business is a multibillion-dollar industry, and we are excited by the prospect of newly married couples choosing to spend the most special holiday of their lives at St Petersburg Island very soon.”

The development offers a combination of island retreat and city break, being just 20 minutes from the mainland.

Guests will have use of an infinity pool, shallow lagoons, tropical gardens, a pool bar and restaurant. They will also have butler service available to them 24 hours a day.

Guests can access the island by helicopter, seaplane or boat.

The hotel is set to open at the end of 2018, and honeymoon booking swill be open soon.
