Is Whoopi Goldberg Tired of L.A. Views? She’s Selling .8M Palisades Estate
It looks like Whoopi Goldberg has tired of “the view” in Los Angeles, where she has placed her home on the market for $8.8 million, according to Variety.
The outspoken co-host of “The View,” whose given name is Caryn Elaine Johnson, purchased the Pacific Palisades abode in 1993 for $2.5 million. The iconic home is quite a prize.
Built in 1933, the 7,000-square-foot main house has six bedrooms and 6.5 baths. A separate guesthouse comes with a fireplace, kitchen, and bath.
Many of the home’s original details remain intact, including the marble checkerboard floor in the foyer, crown moldings, fireplaces, and “onyx-clad” master bathroom, according to the listing.
The home also features a living room, dining room, library, and family room. The remodeled kitchen looks out to the swimming pool and lush landscaping.
Maybe not surprisingly, this elegant older home has some history. It was once the residence of screen star David Niven.
Goldberg has recently shed other properties, including a rustic farmhouse on 745 acres in Marlboro, VT, a loft in New York City, and a spread near Berkeley, CA.
The longtime co-host of “The View” now lives outside of Manhattan. The 62-year-old performer is one of the few to have won an Oscar, Emmy, Grammy, and Tony.
