It’s Tiny on Top: This Week’s Most Popular Home Has No Bedrooms

It’s Tiny on Top: This Week’s Most Popular Home Has No Bedrooms

most popular listings for July 8 2016

It’s entirely possible you’re burned out on the whole tiny-house phenomenon, but the people who browse realtor.com® remain enamored with the diminutive dwellings. This week, clicks propelled a 300-square-foot home in Oregon to the top of the most popular listings. It’s a tiny titan!

Listed for $194,900, the home with zero bedrooms (but one sleeping loft) is decidedly modest, but it does feature a “full bathroom,” according to the listing. We saw no photographic evidence of indoor plumbing in the listing photos, but that doesn’t mean a small water closet doesn’t exist.

The juxtaposition of the top and second spots is … humorous. In second place this week is a NYC penthouse belonging to none other than Goop founder Gwyneth Paltrow. The tiny house talks up the “great soil” surrounding the minuscule cottage, while Paltrow’s $12.9 million unit is referred to as “a pale, dreamy cloud.” The jokes write themselves.

As for the rest of the top 10, you also clicked on an affordable horse ranch in New Jersey, a stone home from the 1780s in New York, and the Los Angeles estate of a long-dead music legend.

Go ahead, rock on with the rest of this week’s most popular homes.

10. 90 Villere Pl, Destrehan, LA

Price: $734,900
Why it’s here: Belonging to former New Orleans Saints wide receiver Marques Colston, this large four-bedroom home recently had its price reduced by $35,000. As for Colston, he has yet to announce whether he’s going to training camp with a new team this summer.

9. 2020 Winslow Rd, Williamstown, NJ

Why it’s here: You can have your very own farm for less than $300,000! (One American dollar less, that is.) Known as Harmony Acres, it’s a “horse farm paradise” with a barn, tack room, corrals, and feed storage. There’s also a charming three-bedroom home on the 10-acre property.

4. 6045 Bringle Ferry Rd, Salisbury, NC

Price: $199,000
Why it’s here: It’s a bit of a mystery. This recently remodeled brick home from 1922 in the center of the state is charming, but we don’t know exactly why the heck it’s so popular. Maybe it’s the 9 acres of property included with the purchase. Or perhaps it’s because it backs right up to a creek. Or it could be the recent $500 price reduction. Yes, you read that right—$500 was knocked from the price tag in late June.

3. 108 Ocean Ave, Amityville, NY

Price: $850,000
Why it’s here: The “Amityville Horror” house continues to deliver a frightful amount of clicks week in, week out.

2. 416 Washington St Ph D, New York City, NY

Price: $12,850,000
Why it’s here: It’s Gwyneth Paltrow‘s penthouse! The Goop founder recently used her personal platform to extol the features of her beloved three-bedroom residence in New York City. Opening the doors to her “artisanal” and “bespoke” place sparked renewed interest in the home, which has been on the market since March.

1. 1071 Barker Dr, Merlin, OR

Price: $194,900
Why it’s here: It’s not often we see a home with a big fat zero next to the number of bedrooms. Although the tiny-home backlash is well underway, the trendy small spaces continue to captivate a segment of folks looking to simplify and streamline.

Look no further than this popular no-bedroom pad tucked in the southwest corner of Oregon. Built just two years ago, it has a sleeping loft and, more important, a full bathroom, which is a deal breaker for many aspiring tiny-house hunters. With over an acre of land and a little creek behind it, the cute cottage is an appealing option for a buyer who wants a vacation getaway or a simpler life.
