L.A. Clippers Center DeAndre Jordan Selling Modern Malibu Estate for .5M
Los Angeles Clippers star DeAndre Jordan has put his 4,600-square-foot, ultramodern estate in Malibu, CA, on the market for $6.5 million, just 14 months after buying it.
Jordan, 29, makes his living in the paint and currently ranks as the most accurate shooter in NBA history, making roughly seven out of every 10 shots he takes. The Texas native is the highest-paid player on the Clippers roster, and in 2015 he was set to sign with the Dallas Mavericks before the Clippers reeled him back in with a four-year, $88 million contract.
As the contract plays out and the Clippers rebuild, analysts have speculated Jordan could wind up in a new locale this summer. Listing his five-bedroom, six-bath home has added fuel to those simmering rumors.
Built in 1980 in the gated community of Serra Retreat, the home has been renovated from top to bottom. Its unpretentious, modern design is meant for indoor-outdoor living, with floor-to-ceiling pocket doors that open the living room to the patio, pool, and spa.
The living rooms flows into the open-concept, European-inspired kitchen, which has a sleek wooden island with a waterfall edge, top-of-the-line appliances, and a full-size wine fridge with glass door. There’s a rustic, wood-paneled bar with a live-edge bar top, and beers on tap.
The master bedroom has modern french doors that open to a balcony overlooking the pool and backyard. The shower in the master bath looks like a floor-to-ceiling glass box, with twin shower heads. There’s a separate soaking tub with its own floor-to-ceiling window.
Jordan is a self-professed Batman superfan, and it shows in his house. He has a painting of the classic, Adam West–era Batman and Robin in his living room, a framed “Dark Knight” movie poster in his home theater, and a still shot of Ben Affleck from “Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice” on the ultrawide movie screen.
There are lots of other fun details in the listing photos, including a combination pingpong/pool table in the living room, oversize teddy bear in the home theater, faux zebra-print rug in the master bedroom, child-size timeout chair in the kitchen, and massive play structure—and an even bigger teepee—in the backyard. It’s clear the 6-foot-11 center doesn’t take himself too seriously.
Jordan left Texas A&M early to enter the 2008 NBA draft, where he was picked by the Clippers in the second round. He sat on the bench for much of his first two seasons with the Clippers, but proved himself in the 2010 season, and has started in every game he’s played from 2011 onward.
