Late Novelist Tom Clancy’s Epic Maryland Estate Looking for an Adventurous Buyer

The late novelist Tom Clancy‘s enormous waterfront estate in Huntington, MD, is on the market for $6.2 million. It’s a property nearly as epic as his classic thrillers.

According to the Baltimore Sun, the 536-acre property was once a summer camp for kids. The spread includes more than a mile of frontage on the Chesapeake Bay. The property could easily serve as a backdrop for the swashbuckling Jack Ryan of Clancy’s novels.

The main house was built in 1989 and measures 17,000 square feet. It has seven bedrooms, six bathrooms, and two half-baths. You’ll find vaulted ceilings throughout the home as well as a three-level elevator.

In addition to the main home, the property features an indoor pool in a glass pavilion with retractable roof, a subterranean gun range, tennis courts, sports fields, basketball courts, a private beach, and several guesthouses.

According to the listing, the enormous parcel could be subdivided for development. The home is being sold as is, including a built-in petrified wood writing desk in the home office.

Clancy, a Baltimore native, wrote wildly popular thriller novels, including “The Hunt for Red October,” “Patriot Games,” and “Clear and Present Danger.” His characters have spun off into movies, TV series, and video games. He died in 2013.

Clancy’s estate has been selling off assets in recent years, including a Ritz-Carlton penthouse in Baltimore.
