Magical Utah Mountain Mansion Peers Down at This Week’s Most Popular Homes
When we think of intriguing design, homes in Utah aren’t near the top of the list. Large homes, yes! Six- and seven-bedroom homes are the rule rather than the exception near the Salt Lake. According to the U.S. Census, Utah has the nation’s largest average household size, so bigger houses tend to follow. We get it. But we didn’t expect them to be stunners.
Our preconceived notions about style were crushed by the most-clicked home on realtor.com® this week. This Provo mansion is big and beautiful. Sitting on 30 acres in the Wasatch Mountains, the 24,000-square-foot mansion is a custom build that does full justice to the concept of “custom.” The listing agent humbly describes the residence as the “finest property in all of Utah” and notes that photos of the place only tell part of the story.
Outside the Beehive State, you also clicked on a castle in Iowa, a fast flip in Fort Wayne, and an intriguing New York home that could double as a wedding hall.
While we ponder getting married in the Hudson Valley, we invite you to scroll down for a full look at this week’s most popular homes.
10. 10 Queens Hill, San Antonio, TX
Price: $2,000,000
Why it’s here: It’s Manu Ginobli‘s house! Could the San Antonio Spurs‘ All-Star be prepping for the end of his NBA career?
———
9. 5129 Webber Rd, Knoxville, TN
Price: $155,000
Why it’s here: It’s safe to assume there aren’t a lot of homes like this one in Knoxville, TN. Built in the ’50s and adorned by numerous archways and a courtyard pool, the home gives off a sort of California modern vibe with its exterior. Inside, it has a distinctly grandma feel. The home needs some serious updates and is being sold as is. But at only $58 per square foot, it’s a bargain for a buyer willing to put in the work.

8. 1600 Hampton Rd, Millville, NJ
Price: $284,900
Why it’s here: 34 acres in New Jersey? Yes, it’s possible—in South Jersey, just an hour east of Atlantic City. This charming two-bedroom home built in 1937 has been updated inside and out. According to the listing it’s perfect for “avid hunters, especially turkey and deer hunting.” Did someone say Thanksgiving? You’d better hurry.

7. 2354 County Road 59, Manvel, TX
Price: $3,600,000
Why it’s here: The country’s largest fixer-upper slipped a few spots this week, but its tale of woe continues to garner interest.
———
6. 2001 Greenbriar Ln, Plano, TX
Price: $159,900
Why it’s here: It’s another Texas fixer-upper. Though this one doesn’t look like it’ll require too much work. Yes, the carpets need to come up, the wood paneling will have to go, and the wallpaper is dated. But for a flip-hungry buyer, it could be profitable in Plano.
———
5. 15021 S Eastern Ave, Plainfield, IL
Price: $269,900
Why it’s here: It’s this week’s mystery entrant. We’re not quite sure what propelled this onto our top 10 list. It’s a perfectly cute three-bedroom home on over an acre of land. Sometimes that’s enough.
———
4. 9512 Crestridge Dr, Fort Wayne, IN
Price: $279,900
Why it’s here: This looks like a profitable flip. Sold in late June for $106,950—it’s back on the market just four months later with a $170,000 price bump! The end result is a home that appears brand-new and is still a relative bargain at only $110 per square foot.
———
3. 399 Gregory Rd, Monticello, NY
Price: $1,999,999
Why it’s here: Maybe it’s the DJ booth next to the humongous indoor pool? Or the in-home recording studio? Or the professional kitchen with a brick pizza oven? Whatever the case, this home looks like a perfect spot for someone who wants to live in a place that can double as an event venue. You know who you are.
———
2. 3117 E Locust St, Davenport, IA
Price: $339,900
Why it’s here: As listing agent Brittney Chapman puts it, “This is a unique house for the area.” The home is known locally as the “Castle House,” where guests can enter through an enormous stone turret. True devotees of Medieval style will be a bit disappointed to learn that lurking behind the turret is a fairly standard three-bedroom home.
Chapman says legend has it the home’s original owner had a European wife, so he wanted to give her a taste of home—hence the turret. Chapman says she expects the eventual buyer to be a person who intends to work from home, because the place has a designated home office and a large parking area out back.
———
1. 5618 E South Fork Rd, Provo, UT
Price: $18,500,000
Why it’s here: You can gaze at the beautiful pictures of this one-of-a-kind mansion, but listing agent Mark Magleby says they don’t do the home justice. He’s taken potential buyers through this home, located one hour outside Salt Lake City, and they’re confused by the disconnect between what they’ve seen online and what they’re seeing in person.
“People are blown away by the scope and setting,” Magleby says. Sitting on 30 acres in the Wasatch Mountains, the home has an unsurpassed view of the most majestic snow-capped range in Utah.
Circular spaces throughout the home serve to frame the gorgeous views. Of course, it’s outfitted with standard luxury accoutrements, including a home theater, indoor sport court, brick pizza oven, indoor climbing wall, and private pond with waterfall.
This Utah mansion might make for the ultimate corporate retreat.
