Maine Gov. Paul LePage Hopes to Make Some Bucks on a Flip
Three years ago, Maine Gov. Paul LePage scooped up a foreclosed home. Now he’s selling it.
According to the Portland Press-Herald, LePage and his wife recently listed the home in Boothbay, ME, with Donald Plourde of Coldwell Banker Plourde Real Estate. The $409,000 list price is nearly double the $215,000 they paid in 2015. At the time, the home was on the market for $329,900!
Boothbay is a coastal community 40 miles south of the state capital.
The harbor town is a popular destination for vacationers during the summer months as well as second-home owners. The median list price in the town is $220,000, but this particular property sits within an exclusive development.
The three-bedroom Colonial with a dusty blue exterior boasts three baths and is on a 2-acre lot. For folks interested in aquatic activities, it’s only a block from the water.
The 2,200-square-foot house features modern updates, and the eat-in kitchen comes with an island with bar-height seating, pendant lighting, and a wine fridge. A second-floor mezzanine overlooks the kitchen and living room.
Sliding-glass doors off the family room open to a deck, while the dining room’s archway and crown molding add character. Wide-plank hardwood flooring runs throughout the home, and the upstairs bath features a porthole window.
Even if buyers aren’t interested in the home’s political pedigree, a sale will likely yield a windfall for the Republican governor.
