Mellow Rocker Donavon Frankenreiter Selling Hawaiian Paradise for .6M

Singer-songwriter Donavon Frankenreiter might use his mellow tunes to lure buyers to his custom-built Hawaiian retreat, which just went up for sale at $6.6 million.

Set on a 6.5-acre plot of land in Kilauea on Kauai’s north shore, the island paradise is as soothing as Donavan’s music. The property includes two homes (for a total of 5,752 square feet of living space) with incredible features and finishes.

Donavan “definitely curated the look and feel of the layout of the house, but his wife, Petra, was the interior designer,” listing agent Neal Norman says. “The inspiration behind the house was indoor-outdoor living with a modern-Balinese flavor.”

The three-bedroom, three-bathroom main house includes 100-year-old teak flooring throughout and a kitchen bench crafted from “a very old piece of wood sourced from a river in Indonesia,” Norman says.

The master bathroom features crystal inlays in the floor and a soaking tub carved from a big chunk of river stone. The second home, a one-bedroom, one-bathroom, is constructed of reclaimed teak wood.

“Petra was adamant about bringing elements from the outdoors inside,” Norman says.

Other features on the property include several outdoor lounging areas (including a hammock stand), fruit trees, an infinity pool, an outdoor shower, and a lily pond. The whole slice of paradise took two years to build and construction finished in 2014.
