NBA Legend Patrick Ewing Is Renting Out His NJ Mansion for K a Month
NBA Hall of Famer Patrick Ewing is still trying to dribble away from his mansion in Cresskill, NJ. It’s now available to rent for $25,000 a month.
The longtime New Jersey resident initially listed the home in 2015 for $7 million. The price was reduced to $6.5 million in 2016, $6 million in 2017, and $5.5 million in 2018. It was last on the market for $4.8 million.
Ewing had purchased the spec property in 2007 for $6.35 million.
He then “tricked it out,” says listing agent Michele Kolsky-Assatly. Ewing altered the height of railings, counters, and closets for his tall frame. He added the home theater with cozy leather seats and, naturally, a basketball court.
“The finishes are exceptional,” says Kolsky-Assatly. Furthermore, “it’s totally private. You are really in the country, while only a few minutes from the George Washington Bridge.”
Even with the price cuts, the seven-bed manor is still one of the most expensive homes in Cresskill, where the median home listing price is $998,000.
So it’s a smart play to offer the mansion as a luxury rental while waiting for the right buyer.
The 10,524-square-foot, brick house features a grand foyer with a curved staircase. The two-story family room has floor-to-ceiling windows, a double-sided fireplace, and an interior balcony.
The chef’s kitchen is equipped with stainless-steel appliances, an island with bar seating, and a breakfast area with a fireplace.
The main floor also includes a formal dining area and an office with built-in shelves.
You can take the elevator or stairs to the second floor, where you’ll find the master suite with a fireplace, and four more bedrooms with private baths.
On the lower level, the home offers a wet bar, recreation room, media room, gym, and bedroom with bath. From this level you can walk out to the basketball court. The property also comes with a four-car garage.
Outside you’ll find a lagoon-shaped pool and spa.
Ewing, 56, currently serves as head coach of the men’s basketball team at his alma mater, Georgetown University. The 7-foot center had an 18-season NBA career, mainly with the New York Knicks, and made the NBA All-Star team 11 times. A 1996 poll named him one of the 50 greatest players in NBA history.
