No Longer a Saint, NFL Guard Jahri Evans Selling in Louisiana
Longtime New Orleans Saints member Jahri Evans was dropped from the team roster in February, and now the veteran offensive guard is ready to move on to greener pastures. He just listed his Plantation-style home for $768,000.
Located in Destrehan, LA, which is about 30 minutes outside of New Orleans, his home is refreshingly modest for a NFL player who signed a seven-year, $56 million contract in 2010.
Built in 1982, the home has many classic New Orleans–style features, including a full second-story balcony and giant fleur-de-lis mural in the game room. (We even spotted an original Blue Dog painting from renowned local artist George Rodrigue.)
But the interiors have been updated, and there’s no hint of ’80s decor. Everything inside is bright, white, and clean. There are also plenty of amenities like fireplaces in nearly every room, a chef’s kitchen, and a walk-in closet with a window seat.
At 32, Evans shouldn’t have any trouble securing another spot on an NFL team. The 10-year veteran has a Super Bowl ring, six Pro Bowls, and four All-Pro selections under his prodigious belt. After the Saints asked to revise his contract (again), Evans refused a pay cut and opted to become a free agent. NFL experts have already pegged the guard as an ideal fit for the Philadelphia Eagles, Buffalo Bills, or Kansas City Chiefs.
